How to copy page content to a default page
The copy page content feature lets you take the draft content from a custom page and apply it to one of your default pages, like your Home or About page without losing either page's identity or settings. This is especially helpful when you've been building or refining a layout on a custom page and want to move that work onto a core page of your site.
This article walks you through how it works, what to expect, and how to preserve your existing default page content if needed.
How to copy page content to a default page
- In the Website Builder, open the custom page you want to copy content from.
- From the left panel, click on the 3 dots menu next to the custom page name, then select Copy page content from the menu.
- A modal will open. Use the dropdown to select the default page you want to copy the content to.
- (Optional) If you want to preserve the current draft of the target page, check the box next to Preserve the existing “default” page content.
- Enter a name and URL slug for the new custom page that will be created from the default page's current draft.
- Click on the Copy page button to apply the change.
Once confirmed, the draft content from your custom page will be copied onto the selected default page.
What stays the same when copying content onto a default page
The copy page content feature only updates the draft content of the target page. The following do not change:
- The default page's name and slug.
- Its position in your navbar or footer.
- Its page type and role on your site.
- The custom page you copied from; it remains as-is.
You can copy content onto any of your standard default pages, such as Home or About. Account-related pages, like your login or password reset, are not available as targets and will not appear in the dropdown.
