Using beehiv Copilot
Copilot is beehiiv's AI assistant built into your account. It is designed to help you draft, summarize, plan, and personalize your content with an assistant that understands your audience, your data, and your voice. Copilot is fully integrated into the beehiiv app, meaning you never have to leave or interrupt your workflows to get the answers you need fast.
How to access Copilot
There are two ways to access Copilot:
-
Side Navigation: Click on the Ask beehiiv sparkle button in the left side navigation to open a full-page Copilot experience.
- Keyboard shortcut: Press ⌘J (Mac) or Ctrl+J (Windows) to open a handy modal you can use on any page as a part of your existing workflows.
What Copilot can help with
Copilot acts as a newsletter and email deliverability expert. You can ask it to help you interpret your metrics, talk through growth strategy, or work through ideas for upcoming posts.
Copilot is publication-aware, meaning it has context on your publication's name, description, and data. Its responses are grounded in your actual metrics, including things like bounce reasons and post performance, rather than generic advice.
When Copilot gives you recommendations, it limits itself to three actionable suggestions per response, and it references specific posts by subject line and send date so you can see exactly what it is basing its advice on.
Copilot vs. the beehiiv MCP
Copilot and the beehiiv MCP (Model Context Protocol) are related, but not the same thing.
Copilot is beehiiv's own native, in-app assistant. It lives inside your beehiiv account and is what you use when you want AI help without leaving the platform.
The beehiiv MCP is a connection point that lets external AI clients, such as Claude, access your beehiiv data and take actions on your behalf from outside the beehiiv app. For more information on the MCP, read Getting started with the beehiiv MCP
Copilot can do everything the beehiiv MCP can do. The main advantage of Copilot is that you never have to leave your beehiiv account or set up a separate external AI tool to get that help. For a full walkthrough of what that looks like in practice, see What you can do with Copilot.
