Introducing the Visual Editor for posts

Notice: The Visual Editor is currently in beta. Some details shown here may differ slightly from what you see in-app.

beehiiv is rolling out the Visual Editor, a more intuitive way to edit your posts. This article covers what's changing, what's staying the same, and what to expect as you move to the new experience.

What's changing in the post editor

Previously, editing a post worked in two separate steps. The Write tab was where you drafted your content, but it didn't show your final styling, since none of it rendered there. To adjust how your post looked, you had to switch to the Style tab and locate the specific element you wanted to change, then click Preview to see your finished design.

With the Visual Editor, writing and styling now happen in a single view:

  • The editing canvas matches your final published design.
  • You can click directly on any element (text, buttons, images, sections, and more) to immediately access its styling options.
  • You can write and style your post in the same place, seeing exactly what your readers will see as you go.
Note: This is an update to the editing experience only. It does not change how your posts look or perform.

What's staying the same

  • Your existing post designs and reader-facing content are not changing.
  • All of your existing templates and posts will continue to work seamlessly in the Visual Editor.
  • No content migration is required. You won't need to rebuild or re-import anything.

Opting in to the Visual Editor

To Opt-in to the new Visual Editor:

From the post editor, click on the Options icon > Change editor experience

Availability across editors

At launch, the Visual Editor is available for the post editing experience. It is not yet available in other editors, such as the Welcome Email editor, but support for those editors is coming soon.

About the legacy post editor

Starting July 16, 2026, the legacy post editor will no longer receive new features or bug fixes. All users will transition to the Visual Editor in the fall.
