Joining a beehiiv community

Been invited to a community run by your favorite newsletter? Welcome. Communities on beehiiv are spaces where a newsletter's readers gather to discuss, share, and connect, right on the publication's own website. Here's how to get in.


Where communities live

Every beehiiv community lives on its publication's website, at an address like newslettername.com/community. There's no separate app to download or account system to learn: your membership is tied to your email address, the same one you use for the newsletter.


Join from an invite email

If the community's owner invited you, you'll have an email with a Join button:

  1. Select Join in the invite email.
  2. You'll land on the community's join page with your invite ready to accept.
  3. Follow the prompts to confirm your email and complete your profile (below).
Note: Invite links are personal to you. If your link has expired or was already used, visit the community's page directly and join from there.

Join from the community page

  1. Go to the community's address (for example, newslettername.com/community).
  2. Select Join the community.
  3. Enter your email to get started.
  4. Check your inbox for a code, and enter the code on the page. No password needed, now or ever. (Didn't receive it? Use Resend.)

Complete your profile

Right after joining, you'll be asked to complete your profile: add a name and an optional photo so people can recognize you in the community (JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP up to 5 MB). Select Continue, and you're in.

A complete profile isn't just polish: it's how other members recognize you and how conversations feel human. 


Joining a paid community

Some communities (or some spaces inside them) are for paid subscribers only. If you hit a Paid members only screen, you'll need to upgrade your subscription to the newsletter's qualifying tier: select Upgrade now and follow the checkout. Once subscribed, the community unlocks automatically. Already subscribed? Use Already a member? to sign in instead.


Signing in to a community later

Coming back on a new device? Go to the community page, select Already a member? Sign in, and enter your email to sign in. You'll get a fresh code, same as joining.


Leaving a community

You can leave at any time from your member menu in the community. Leaving the community doesn't cancel your newsletter subscription or any paid subscription: those are managed separately through the publication.

To leave a community: Click on the 3 dots menu next to your profile name in the bottom right corner > View Profile > Edit Profile > Leave community.
